You have a big shop, but whenever somebody leaves their pig outside it runs away? Problem solved! Build this parking lot outside, and the pigs will wait patiently for somebody to ride them away. As of 1.6 horses have been added so just up them on a fence with a lead.

Method 1 — Pistons[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

You will need:

  • Any pickaxe/shovel or sword
  • 4 sticky pistons
  • 1 lever
  • 4 redstone repeaters
  • 6 blocks (any)
  • 12 redstone
  • 4 fences OPTIONAL
  • 2 glowstone OPTIONAL

Dig a 2×2 hole in the ground, four blocks deep.

Put vertical sticky pistons on the very bottom.

Put 1 layer of any block on top of the pistons. We'll use sponges.

Put 2 of any block on one side.

Put a lever on one (or both) of the blocks.

Put 2 redstone on the blocks behind the "wall"

Dig stairs going down 2 blocks on each side of the redstone, like in the picture. Place redstone on each step.

Turn towards the hole, and dig two more steps down. Again, place redstone on each step.

Dig one block forward, then dig one layer in the direction of the hole. You should see your sticky pistons from the side, like this. Repeat for both sides.

Place redstone on the side farther from the pistons. Place redstone repeaters pointing toward the pistons. Repeat on both sides.

OPTIONAL Make glowstone lamps like this

Now, when you flip the lever, the sponge will go up and down. When the lever is down, a pig can get in and out. When the lever is up, pigs cannot escape, so they are safe (unless somebody kills them.)

In the end, it should look something like this:

This only has one (1) parking spot. Repeat (over and over again) to get a full parking lot.

Method 2 — Fence (Simple)[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

You will need:

  • 7 fences
  • 1 fence gate
  • 1 pressure plate
    • A stone pressure plate works better than a wooden one because it cannot be activated by dropped items.
  • Glowstone/Torches (OPTIONAL)
  • 1 Chest (OPTIONAL)

Place the fences in a 3×3 ring with the middle section of one side missing.

Place the fence gate in the hole, matching up with the fence.

Place the pressure plate outside the stall, directly adjacent to the gate.

Optional step[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

Light with torches, glowstone or other light source, then place chest outside to store your Carrot on a Stick.

How to use[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

To enter:

  1. Ride pig into stall. (gate opens automatically thanks to pressure plate)
  2. Dismount. (note that you might end up in a different stall)
  3. Go about your business.

To leave:

  1. Mount pig.
  2. Open gate by right clicking on it.
  3. Ride away. (gate will close automatically)

Please note that this is only one stall. You will need many of these for a parking lot, though the design does allow space-saving by overlapping the walls.

Also note that nighttime isn't a good time to use this method because a mob can let the pig free because of the pressure plate, unless you're on Peaceful.

Method 3: fence vs. nether brick fence[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

You need:

  • 6 Fence
  • 6 Nether brick fence
  • 4 blocks that do not require an attachment block. (optional, but keeps out spiders and endermen)
  • Something to light up the place (optional)

  1. Pick the place you want to put the stall. It should be a 2×2 area on the inside (4×4 total)
  2. Line the edges with fence and nether brick fence so that all the wooden fences are ajacent to two nether brick fences each and all the nether brick fences are adjacent to 2 wooden fences each.
  3. (optional, but will keep spiders and endermen out) Place the remaining 4 blocks so that they are above the inside and are 2 blocks above the ground.
  4. (optional) Light up the place
  5. Ride a pig into your new stall.

Why it works[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

Alternating fences[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

Fences do not connect to nether brick fences, but pigs think that you are placing two solid blocks next to each other.

Preventing spiders[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

Fences are 1.5 blocks high, so when a spider tries to climb them, they will end up climbing the blocks above your structure.

Preventing endermen[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

The blocks leave a 2-block space, but endermen are 3 blocks high.

Method 4: Leads[επεξεργασία | επεξεργασία κώδικα]

Now since 1.6 leads have been added. You can set up fences in front of your shops (or wherever else) and tie pigs to fences and leave them there.
